The Bioeconomy Changemakers Festival aims to engage youth as drivers of the transformative change needed to address the multiple challenges that Europe faces today, and to unlock the potential of the bioeconomy to make the transformation happen.
The Festival is organised by the European Commission (Research and Innovation) in cooperation with the Bioeconomy Youth Ambassadors.
There will be a high-level event in Brussels, and more than 30 satellite events all over Europe.

BIOECONOMY CHANGEMAKERS FESTIVAL IN BRUSSELS
Sessions
13 March
14:15 – 15:35: Supporting young changemakers to develop and scale solutions
In this session we will hear from organisations how they support young changemakers to develop and scale innovative solutions for the bioeconomy. EU-funded projects BioBEO and GenB will take part.
REA‘s booth
13-14 March
REA colleagues will be present in a booth to ask questions from visitors on EU funding opportunities, and how to become an evaluator of proposals requesting EU funding. Visitors will be able to learn also about successful bioeconomy funded projects.
Rural Bioeconomy Alliance (RBA) booth
13-14 March
Several RBA members will be available for the full two days of the festival to discuss the RBA, its members and activities. The booth will present the RBA and present, through audio-visual material, bioeconomy solutions and success stories that are hosted by member projects and support Rural renewal.

Hub online event - P2Green International conference: Bridging the gap between the thriving bioeconomy and youth engagement

Organised by EU-funded project P2GreeN, the event focuses on empowering youth to lead in sustainability and innovation for biological resource management. The event showcases Bioeconomy's potential achievements, emphasizing its positive impact on the environment and economy.

12 March, 10:00 – 22:00: Vienna edition
The event aims to catalyse a holistic transformation within the country and extend its influence on the broader European landscape. The Festival aspires to harness the youth's collective power to shape policies and strategies for a sustainable future and transform Vienna into a role model hub for the bioeconomy of tomorrow. The Engage4BIO and GenB projects are involved in the workshop session on understanding and communicating bioeconomy.

EU project GeneBEcon is organising an event aiming to empower early-career researchers interested in plant-related sciences to drive the change towards a sustainable bioeconomy.
15 March, 10:00 – 16:30: Where Education meets Bioeconomy, in Brussels
BioBEO has organised a festival with a workshop about how to make sustainable water choices, talks, live music and comedy, animations, and an award show.

13 March: Webinar event
The main objective of the webinar is to raise awareness, engage and empower students and youth to become changemakers for the transition towards sustainable and circular bioeconomy. Besides the youth, the audience will be bio-based value chain actors (primary sector, industrial and waste sector), SMEs, research institutions, environmental NGOs and CSOs (EU-funded projects: CEE2ACT,Engage4BIO, BIOLOC and BOOST4BIOEAST). EU-funded project Engage4Bio is involved.
