Sharing knowledge, speeding up the use of new technologies, and creating lasting positive ripple effects help researchers and their institutions to get the most of their research.
The European Commission entrusted the widerAdvance Facility with €5 million in EU funding to support this effort.
As part of Horizon Europe’s Widening participation and spreading excellence programme, this new initiative offers tailored guidance on dissemination and exploitation to researchers in 15 EU member states, 14 associated countries as well as the outermost regions. The goal: to make research from these regions more visible, better shared, and more widely used.
How the service can help you
The widerAdvance Facility helps institutions in lower R&I performance regions to maximise the social and economic impact of their research by:
- sharing and leveraging research results
- enhancing research management
- improving technology transfer processes
- strengthening intellectual asset and standardisation capacity
- developing investor-ready pitches
The Facility will provide a wide portfolio of services, such as:
- Individual expert support for dissemination and exploitation of project results

Upcoming funding opportunities
In line with the European Research Area policy objectives, the Widening programme is providing funding for projects that enhance the research and innovation capabilities of countries with lower performance.
You can watch the latest WIDERA Info Day recording to learn more about the programme and available opportunities.
Why dissemination & exploitation matter in Horizon Europe
As a beneficiary of Horizon Europe funding, projects are legally required to enhance the impact of their results by engaging in two key activities: dissemination, which involves sharing research outcomes with relevant stakeholders; and exploitation, which focuses on using the results to develop products, processes, services, or policies that can positively impact public quality of life.
The widerAdvance Facility complements existing European Commission tools, such as the Horizon Results Booster and the European IP Helpdesk.
