Looking to refine your skills, or gain further insights into a particular topic? Several EU-funded projects have developed online courses, tools, and resources to help you on your journey – whether it’s looking for a new job, helping you in your studies, or learning for pleasure!
These courses are available in English and are free-of-charge.
GLOBAL GOVERNANCE
The challenges we face are global; from the climate crisis to health pandemics. The GLOBE project’s Introduction to Global Governance is a seven-module Massive Online Open Course, or MOOC, on the different global institutions involved in global affairs featuring experts in the field.
TRUSTWORTHY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Looking to be part of the movement for a more democratic and trustworthy digital future? The AI4Gov project’s Trustworthy and Democratic AI – Fundamentals might be for you! This MOOC provides learners with the foundational knowledge necessary to understand bias, ethics, and standards in artificial intelligence.
TOURISM MARKETING
The Importance of Marketing and Social Branding in Tourism Destinations is an online course developed by the INCULTUM project. The course is divided into three sections: marketing and branding principle; promotion and storytelling; and locals’ involvement and place representation.
RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION
The SEA2SEE project recently designed a MOOC called Navigating the Sea to Plate Journey for Responsible Seafood Consumption. The course’s objective? To empower consumers and stakeholders with knowledge, driving responsible consumption and sustainable production practices in the seafood industry. You can enrol online.
FROM CITIZEN SCIENCE TO PROGRAMMING
The European Citizen Science project has launched an Academy. Here, you can access a range of trainings and courses that touch on different topics. From introductory courses in Python and citizen science in the classroom to social media management and writing training for citizen science practitioners.
SCIENCE COMMUNICATION
The TRESCA project’s Online Course on Science Communication is designed to help you communicate about science in an era of disinformation and questioning of scientific principles.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP FOR ASTRONOMERS
The SKIES project has developed a short introduction to entrepreneurship for astronomers. This mini online open course is for higher education institutes to support the career development, open science, and entrepreneurship of astronomy PhD candidates.
TRANSFERABLE SKILLS FOR RESEARCHERS
DocEnhance’s Courses on Transferable Skills are a series of online courses similarly aimed at PhD students, supervisors, and research bodies. The courses focus on research data, PhD supervision, and career development with entrepreneurial skillsets.

FRESHWATER RESTORATION
Bringing Europe’s Freshwaters Back to Life is the title - and the theme - of the MERLIN project’s podcast. As Europe’s freshwaters are in a dire state, the podcast follows the project’s journey, offering a behind the scenes look at some of the continent’s ambitious freshwater restoration projects carried out through cutting-edge aquatic science and conservation. The project also hosts webinars on similar topics.
EUROPEANISATION
The MEDIATIZED EU project hosted a nine-part podcast series on the theme of Europeanisation. Through interviews with researchers in the field, the podcast explores the perception, public opinion, and media portrayal of the EU in various countries.
DEMOCRACY
