Horizon Europe Security Research Event 2022

Find out how REA projects contribute to the annual event on EU resilience against disasters and crises

Following a two-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the annual edition of the Security Research Event (SRE) will take place in Paris from the 1st to the 2nd of March 2022. Influenced by the pandemic, the event will take stock of the lessons learned over the past two years and investigate how security research has been, and will, continue to support resilience across society. The title of the SRE 2022 will be “Shaping EU Resilience: Research and Innovation to Face Future Security Challenges”.

SRE 2022 will also mark the first year following the launch of Horizon Europe, the European Commission’s framework programme for research and innovation for 2021-2027. The European Research Executive Agency (REA) is mandated to manage Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects under Cluster 3: Civil Security for Society.

Several projects managed by REA under Cluster 3 will feature at the SRE 2022, with each project highlighting its contributions to EU policymaking in the domains of: funding for security research and innovation; protecting EU citizens and critical infrastructure from crime and terrorism; building-up the EU’s external borders; and strengthening resilience in the face of cyberattacks, disasters, and other crises.

Registration is required to attend SRE 2022.
